A formal report is the highest-level valuation report. It is a self-contained report with a comprehensive presentation of the data considered, valuation procedures followed, and reasoning employed in the development of the value conclusion. The value is expressed as a single dollar amount. Formal reports are required for most tax- related matters and recommended when an intended reviewer is not very familiar with the business.
